Hi, I’m Erin, a Portrait and Pet Photographer based in Sydney, Australia — but I'll take any opportunity to travel! Chinese background, fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, stayed in Australia after I graduated from UNSW with an engineering degree, worked but then decided I like photography.
I had fun during my photo imaging studies and won second prize in Frame+Work T3 competition held by Torrens University. Although I am most passionate about capturing the emotions and precious moments of people and our furry friends, I stay curious and practise all different genres, and have found photographing still-life and travel quite interesting. I would love to continue creating images for a living and for the rest of my life.
Pet portraits
Pet portrait is where my passion lies. This project was part of my folio presentation, which included some cats, some dogs and a turtle. I usually spend some time with the pet and get to know how they move and react to the camera before I start shooting, but some images were just beautiful incidents.
The intention of this project was to create pet portraits with emotions and art pieces people would gladly hang in their homes.
Plant forms
This project is to create clean images of plant forms. The wide characteristic variation of plants is intriguing; some textures, patterns, shapes and colours could be very photogenic and powerful combined with the right light. Photos were taken over the last nine months, and will continue to expand as the plants grow.
